Dear Shanell,
The elder I'm training, Elder Chapman, does not like to wear ties or suit jackets. We got up to a door of an appointment one day before I realized he wan't wearing a tie! He's a super guy though! Every time I say something he says, "why". He's pretty funny.
Tonight we are having a surprise going away party for a Lamanite sister named Sister Tairua. It should be fun! She is from New Zealand. It is sad to see some of the missionaries that I become friends with go home. Some I'll never see again and it can be hard. When I saw Elder Fusselman go home, it was hard. He was my 2nd companion. You grow so close to the missionaries out here. It's almost harder leaving them than my family. I know I'll see my family again, but I never know with these missionaries.
We were joking around with a new elder the other day and asked him, "What is the difference between an orange?" It makes no sense, but he was trying to figure it out. It was funny.
I had an experience where my prayers were answered. I left my scriptures on a curb accidentally and when I went back to get them, they were gone. I asked some people that lived close by if they had seen them and the old man said that he had picked them up and taken them into the house, but his wife told him to put hem back. He also said that some lady in a blue car came and picked them up shortly after. Well, from Thursday to Sunday I felt sick. I was lost without my scriptures! On Sunday, the bishop's son came up to me and gave me my scriptures. They had found them 3-4 miles away from where I had lost them by a fence! I know that God answered my prayer.
I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is our Savior! Ezra Taft Benson is a true prophet just like Joseph Smith and Moses. If people pray about it, they will know.
Love,
Elder Wallentine
